Mohamedou Ould Slahi (Tahar Rahim) sobrevive en la prisión de Guantánamo después de haber sido detenido y encarcelado sin cargos por el gobierno de Estados Unidos durante una década y sin que se haya celebrado ningún juicio. Habiendo perdido toda esperanza, Slahi encuentra aliados en la abogada defensora Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) y su asociada Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley). Cuando vivía en París, fui al cine a ver Un profeta. En todos los medios cinematográficos leí odas a Tahar Rahim, cómo nació un nuevo talento cinematográfico. Y tanto entonces como ahora debo darles la razón a los franceses. Su papel no es nada fácil y lo ha desempeñado con excelencia. Un componente interesante de la película es el (No)duelo entre Jodie Foster y Benedict Cumberbatch. Shailene Woodley es simplemente la guinda del pastel de todo el elenco actoral. En cuanto a la historia, ¿cuándo algún Demócrata pondrá fin a la repugnancia llamada Guantánamo, la cerrará y la enterrará para siempre?

The Mauritanian has a rather interesting story involving a man who is held in prison for several years without any trial or charge and under rather harsh conditions. It has a strong cast featuring Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Levi, and they are all good. However, what I was most looking forward to came only in the last few minutes. I was expecting a tense courtroom thriller, but in the end it's not about the trial, which is only there for maybe five minutes, and the rest goes at such a slow and uninteresting pace that I slowly lost interest in the film. Too bad, the film isn't bad, but it's pretty boring. 5/10.
