Sinopsis(1)
Después de tres peligrosas aventuras desafiando a la muerte y derrotando a supervillanos con su inigualable coraje y su impresionante dominio de las artes marciales, Po, el Guerrero del Dragón se encuentra con que el destino le llama... a tomarse un respiro. Más concretamente, le ofrecen convertirse en el líder espiritual del Valle de la Paz. La propuesta le plantea un par de problemas obvios. Primero, Po sabe tanto de liderazgo espiritual como de dietas, y segundo, necesita encontrar y entrenar lo más rápido posible a un nuevo Guerrero del Dragón antes de poder ocupar su prestigioso y flamante nuevo cargo. Por si fuera poco, últimamente ha aparecido una malvada y poderosa hechicera llamada la Camaleona, una diminuta sabandija que puede transformarse en cualquier criatura, grande o pequeña. Y la Camaleona ha puesto sus codiciosos y minúsculos ojos de canica en el Báculo de la Sabiduría de Po, que podría darle el poder de invocar a todos los maestros villanos que Po derrotó y desterró en su día al reino de los espíritus. Parece que Po va a necesitar ayuda. Y la encuentra (más o menos) en la astuta e ingeniosa ladrona Zhen, un ejemplar de zorro corsac que pone de los nervios a nuestro panda, pero cuyas habilidades demostrarán ser de gran valía. Para proteger el Valle de la Paz de las reptilianas garras de la Camaleona, esta divertida e insólita pareja tendrá que trabajar codo con codo. En el proceso, Po descubrirá que los héroes pueden hallarse en los lugares más inesperados. (Universal Pictures España)

After eight years, the obese, gluttonous and clumsy Dragon Warrior Po (soon-to-be spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace) returns to the scene to face perhaps his most diabolical opponent yet, the Chameleon. Kung Fu Panda 4 is quite average, offering essentially another generally straightforward adventure with no major surprises or demands on the viewer. I had the feeling that they didn't use the (literally) multilayered potential of Chameleon and were just after a spectacular show, but I praise the voice-acting of Viola Davis. I found the final confrontation a bit rushed, as if they suddenly remembered that they had a burning deadline to submit the final film and needed to cut it as quickly as possible. The film is not boring in the cinema, but a few days after the screening you won’t remember much about it.

After finding that his days of fighting are over because he will have to become a spiritual master, Po decides to embark on one last adventure with a young thief, but little does he know that he will be up against an adversary who may be beyond his strength. Kung Fu Panda 4 is an inoffensive animated action flick, but it doesn't take the franchise anywhere. On the one hand, we get fine fights and a goofy protagonist, but alongside that we also get a minimum of new ideas and a woeful lack of old familiar ones. It's enough for a slightly above average animated flick, but I’m not sure this series can offer something more.
