Cherri y Rod son los Reyes del Instituto y forman la perfecta pareja teenager... Hasta que aparece Spud, recién llegado a la ciudad. Aunque al principio Cherri le detesta, pronto surge el romance entre ambos y Rod decide actuar: la noche del baile de graduación, consigue que el coche con que la pareja se dirige a la fiesta se salga de la carretera y acabe hundiéndose en el lago. El astuto Rod se las apaña para que su crimen quede impune... Pero, al año siguiente, cuando se cumple el primer aniversario de la noche de su muerte y está a punto de celebrarse un nuevo baile de graduación, Cherri y Spud, con su coche fantasma, vuelven del más allá para cumplir su destino y su venganza. Long-length authorial project by Bill Plympton, which was presented at the Třeboň ANIFEST, where it won in the category of full-length films. Festival victory itself does not mean much because the competition is usually weak in this category in Třeboň, unlike short films, for commercial reasons. Nevertheless, it is definitely not a bad film. It carries the characteristics typical for Plympton's work, namely a nonconformist screenplay and an unmistakable drawing style. However, I have had long-term problems with his visual concept - his drawing simply doesn't appeal to me - so it's only worth three stars, although otherwise it would be reliably worth an extra one for his messy film... The film can be considered as a dark parody of American teenage films set in a high school environment. Overall impression: 65%.
