El protagonista de esta película es Roper (Eddie Murphy), un reputado negociador de rehenes en atracos. Un día, le llega un soplo sobre un golpe inminente en un banco y logra detener al ladrón. Tras un largo tiempo en la cárcel, el capturado piensa la forma de vengarse de Roper y, una vez fuera, le busca para llevar a cabo su plan. Decide secuestrar a su novia y arrebatarle así a su ser más querido. El negociador, junto con su astuto compañero Kevin McCall (Michael Rapaport), hará lo imposible por rescatar a la chica y poner orden en esta alocada situación. Maybe the last movie from the ‘90s where Eddie Murphy is still okay. As a negotiator he’s pretty good or, more precisely, he talks non-stop. The action is decent too and a few good ideas emerge (the cable car, the elimination of the villain at the end), plus, ten years on, these action comedies are quite... refreshing. This is just how they used to do things. Darn, I must be getting old.
