La División, una agencia gubernamental clandestina, tiene un oscuro fin: alterar genéticamente a personas normales para convertirlas en soldados con poderes psíquicos. Aquellos que no quieren participar o que están en contra, son eliminados. Nick Gant (Evans) lleva escondiéndose de la División desde que, siendo un niño, asesinaron a su padre. Nick ha heredado sus poderes telequinéticos. Oculto en Hong Kong se siente seguro, pero se verá forzado a salir de su escondite cuando se cruce en su camino Cassie (Fanning), una chica de 13 años que puede ver el futuro. Cassie le pide ayuda para encontrar a Kira (Belle), una joven que tiene la más poderosa de las habilidades psíquicas desarrollados por la División: puede implantar pensamientos en las mentes de los demás. The first half is a decent pilot to a decent action sci-fi series, while the second half is a compilation of the following twelve episodes. It’s really too bad given the fact that McGuigan is one of the greatest talents of his generation. Not many people have such fancy visual treats (editing, cinematography). The biggest draw is probably just the fact that this is every pedophile’s dream come true - Dakota is fifteen, plays a thirteen-year-old and looks like neither age category. :) Beyond that, Chris is growing with every movie, Camilla looks pretty stupid, and Djimon is really starting to play his tough hunters all a bit too much the same.

This movie has its good moments, but overall it is on the weaker side of what has come out of the mutant genre. The story has more twists than a pretzel, not to mention occasional jumps into the past (the glass of beer and the toothbrush) and variously predicted futures. Luckily a really interesting group of actors comes together here and apart from that guy Evans, we occasionally see a drunk and very striking Dakota Fanning. These two spend the whole picture reeling off wisecracks and you can see that they really hit it off together. And I could watch Camilla Belle in any movie whenever you like. An extra star for the marvelous shots of Hong Kong. A high 3.
