Koichi Uehara es un estudiante que vive en los suburbios de Tokyo. Un día recoge una gran piedra que resulta ser la carcasa de un bebé “Kappa” (una criatura del agua perteneciente a la mitología japonesa) que ha estado viviendo bajo tierra durante los últimos 300 años y decide llamarle “Coo”. Koichi y Coo se harán grandes amigos y comenzarán a vivir en familia. Sin embargo, Coo no logra adaptarse al estilo de vida de Tokyo y empieza a echar de menos a su familia. En un caluroso día veraniego, Koichi y Coo deciden embarcarse en una inesperada búsqueda de los antecesores de éste último. (Selecta Visión)

Summer Days with Coo is quite a nice story about a cute Kappa named Coo, even though it is not as intense as it could have been because of the excessive running time. The best characters are the dog Ossan, then Coo himself, and that is about it. I thought that the main male protagonist was quite irritating sometimes, and at other times I found him quite alright. The worst character is Hitomi. The spoiled brat is clear proof that corporal punishment should not only be allowed but encouraged when it comes to some children. I liked the soundtrack; the animation was okay. It is pretty good to watch. However, it is very long, and I did not connect emotionally with some moments at all. So for me just a bit better than average. 6/10.
