Al transcurrir otro año, el cuarto, sin propuesta matrimonial, la decoradora Anna Brady (Amy Adams) decide que ya está bien. Cuando se entera de que una antigua tradición irlandesa permite a las mujeres pedir en matrimonio a sus novios el 29 de febrero, Anna decide seguir a su novio, el cardiólogo Jeremy (Adam Scott), de Boston a Dublín y dar el gran paso. Cuenta con el beneplácito de Jack, su rebelde y bienintencionado padre, (John Lithgow). Simple. Fácil. Pero los aviones se retrasan, el tiempo hace de las suyas y la mala suerte se pone en marcha, dejando a Anna perdida al otro lado de Irlanda. No le queda más remedio que pedir ayuda al malhumorado y despreocupado Declan (Matthew Goode). Mientras Anna y Declan discuten cruzando la Isla Esmeralda, descubren algo que hubieran debido adivinar: el camino hacia el amor lleva a sitios inesperados. (Universal Pictures España)

Otro de los muchos éxitos de taquilla estadounidenses que tiene dos ases fuertes en su mano: Amy Adams e Irlanda, que es un país del cual me he enamorado incondicionalmente, tanto que incluso compré calcetines con un trébol verde y la inscripción "Mis pies siempre estarán en Irlanda" en Dublín. Cuanto más de Irlanda, mejor para mí.

Otra plantilla romántica sin una sola idea, además con una química demasiado ligera entre la pareja central. Amy Adams puede ser linda, pero eso no es suficiente. Bonitos exteriores irlandeses y una única escena (cuando se va el autobús) que me conmovió.

My huge weakness for films from Ireland has deepened again. And it might be the biggest cliché ever, but the trees are falling and the sky is smiling even though it's raining. Love in my eyes like crazy. At least three scenes where my eyes teared up and at least two scenes where I couldn't stop giggling. I know very few romantic movies that have that kind of atmosphere.

Everything seems to be in perfect order. Ireland is the epitome of a dream country, Matthew Goode displays his loner charisma, and Amy Adams is Amy Adams. But the moment the subtitles start, the inevitable truth comes. Leap Year is nothing more than a filled micro-box. Filled to the tee, but with a desperately predictable pattern where everything is clear, including planned plot surprises. Therefore, the final evaluation must be clear in advance.

I didn't have the slightest problem with this film. Thanks to the likeable couple, the beautiful Irish exteriors and the perfectly chosen music, there was always something to see, and the story, which according to the distributor's text on the DVD cover was something like a bland romance, ended up being unexpectedly funny, sensitive, engaging and even surprisingly evolving a few times (I really wasn't sure how everything would turn out, although I had a hunch). Simply one of the most relaxing films of recent times.
