The End of the F***ing World

When I started watching the series, I had no idea what I was getting into. I didn't read the synopsis or the ratings and reviews, so after a couple of Alyssa's lines, I realized my expectations were way off, but I quickly adapted to it. I immensely enjoyed the main characters/antiheroes. The creators managed to keep the story going, and my favorite English humor wasn’t in short supply. I binge-watched all the episodes in three hours, and I wasn’t bored for a single moment. The quality of the individual episodes of the first season ranged from very good to excellent. Both the protagonists had personality traits that were just my taste, and the actors playing them were well chosen. The creators offered a great mixture of action, drama and road movie, plus, the whole season was packed with dry English humor, I couldn’t not have fun. (28.01.2020)

It took me a while to realize what the series would be about, but then I completely "got into" the plot. Both main characters are the exact opposite of awful "goody-goodies" and perfect "cool" types, whom I don't trust even the nose between their eyes, so I immediately liked them. (16.03.2018)

In the second episode, the creators continued their well-started work, the main characters can certainly be annoying to some viewers, but I find them extremely likable and really enjoy them. I also enjoy how Alyssa makes all the decisions and how well James functions when he is properly directed. (16.03.2018)

I enjoyed the previous episodes, but the third one was great. The twenty-minute excellent work with the characters' psyche, James' internal conflict of being a psychopath-romantic-killer was amazing and Alyssa's internal monologue in response to the ongoing events was flawless. I rated the fourth episode with five stars because I enjoyed the plot despite the absence of similar action scenes that occurred in the previous episode. James hid a huge potential within himself; not only did he turn out to be a great cook, but he also showcased his hairdressing skills now. (16.03.2018)

Compared to the previous two episodes, the fifth episode was slightly weaker, but I was still very satisfied. I liked how the creators managed to move the story forward in just twenty minutes and also give the main characters more depth. I'm starting to regret that I never got my hands on the comic book source. (16.03.2018)

I would rate the sixth episode with four stars because the creators did not slack off in terms of quality again, but I had to add an extra point for the gas station robbery. I had a great time watching it, English humor just suits me, and there was plenty of it here, even though there was no screaming and banging on cymbals. (16.03.2018)

The panopticon of local characters was complemented by Alyssa's quirky father in the seventh episode, and the mood was changing like on a rollercoaster. It was already very evident that the situation was slowly becoming completely unmanageable and that the story would conclude with the next episode. I can only say that I had a good time once again. I somewhat expected a similar ending, but I was definitely not disappointed. I enjoyed the conversations in the mobile home, but the ending of the series brought me the greatest satisfaction. I'm glad the creators were able to avoid any kind of happy ending, that would have been a cold shower. (16.03.2018)

The second season was definitely not as good as the first one. I didn’t really think much of Bonnie's storyline or the actress playing her. I also couldn't shake the feeling that James and Alyssa had gotten twenty years older in two years, and at times I felt that the creators should have focused more on the plot itself than on the multicultural cast (but those quotas have to be fulfilled). Despite that, I received a proper dose of cynicism and humor as dry as the inside of a gypsy bathtub. (28.01.2020)

I rated the first episode of the second season somewhat hesitant with a four because I have a negative feeling about the character Bonnie. The first thought was that someone again felt offended by the lack of diversity and pointed out the failure to meet quotas. This already goes beyond humor for me. 4* (28.01.2020)

After watching the second part, I gained certainty that the second season will undoubtedly be much more colorful than the previous one, but oh well. If those black people belong there (and they definitely do in today's Britain), then it's okay, I just dislike how glaringly obvious it is that the creators suddenly had to add them. Nevertheless, with the return of Alyssa and James, the plot definitely got a new boost, and there was plenty to laugh about right away. (28.01.2020)

It definitely isn't the same ride as in the first season, but I still rated it with five stars. Why? Because Alyssa and James really entertain me and their dialogues and inner monologues are perfect. James' first attempt to pass through the gate really captivated me, I hope it continues like this. (28.01.2020)

I am starting to notice that whenever the focus shifts more towards Bonnie, my satisfaction decreases. I'm not saying that the events at the motel were uninteresting, they definitely were not, but for me, James and Alyssa are the ones who make this series and that's what it's all about. (28.01.2020)

Even though Alyssa did her best, it was still the weakest episode of the series. Bonni's storyline doesn't really interest me, and Zdeněk Macura didn't improve the overall impression either. In the fifth episode, I really missed the magic of the first season with a proper dose of cynicism and dry humor. (28.01.2020)

Similar to the previous episode, I wasn't particularly thrilled with the plot in this episode either, but I still slightly increased my rating because I did enjoy it a bit more. It was certainly influenced by the space that both main characters were given after their breakup. 4* (28.01.2020)

I had to close my eyes (both) over Bonnie, but then I could add that fifth star. Besides Naomi Ackie's less successful performance, I have no negative comments about the seventh episode. On the contrary, I was pleasantly surprised, this was a great piece. (28.01.2020)

The final episode of the second season and probably the whole series was quite successful for the creators. The absence of Bonnie was a big plus for me, as both main characters got enough space, so I could enjoy the return of the culprits to the crime scene and the distraction of the father's ashes. 5 stars.
