David es un vago en plena crisis: su novia le ha dejado, se ha quedado sin trabajo, aunque con orgullo sigue insistiendo en que está al frente de una banda de música que en realidad se separó hace años. Se encuentra abusando de la hospitalidad de su hermana, hasta que se une a una excursión de su sobrino, pero solo por una razón: acostarse con la profesora del niño, la señorita Caroline. A pesar de que esperaba un juego infantil sin pretensiones, me sorprendió gratamente lo divertida, sucia y sangrienta que resultó ser esta comedia de terror. Chistes bien dirigidos, personajes bien escritos con frases pegadizas interpretadas por actores de calidad (incluso los niños son geniales aquí), zombis que atacan un zoológico infantil (los amantes de los animales pueden ver aquí un pequeño inconveniente), y gore legítimo y práctico (puede ser una película sobre niños, pero seguro no para niños). Little Monsters es sin duda un muy buen representante de las comedias de zombis, que son bastante numerosas, pero entre las que cuesta encontrar calidad y originalidad. Aquí, afortunadamente, funcionó y me lo pasé bien. [Sitges 2019]

The British-Australian movie Little Monsters is a good example of a horror movie that appeals to a mainstream audience. Little Monsters is more of a comedy, even though there are still some pretty intense scenes. The characters are easy to like, especially Miss Caroline, and of course, the storyline avoids children having to die, so what more could you want?

A fun zombie comedy with kids, starring the perfect Lupita Nyong'o (Us), who is definitely becoming the new horror Scream Queen! A teacher goes on a field trip with her kids and is helped out by David, who has his nephew in kindergarten, but instead of a nice trip, they find themselves in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and are forced to fight for their lives. The film is quite original in that it features a group of children, which gives it a fairly decent emotional base and makes it unexpectedly cute in places, but there are a few severed heads, a bit of blood and the humour works well. So an enjoyable flick that brought something new to the zombie genre, but I was expecting it to be a bit wilder, still a cautious thumbs up. 65%.
