Grease can serve as an easy target for aesthetes who deeply despise the mainstream and light entertainment because that's exactly what Grease without a doubt is. However, it is stylish, choreographically and musically on a professional level, and apart from the fact that I have never found a liking for John Travolta, it is very well cast. There are not many musicals that would stand the test of time and Grease definitely succeeds in that regard. At the time, the critics accepted Grease with great doubts - but you know critics, they often miss the mark in their categorical judgments. That a similar project can turn out much worse is evidenced when comparing it to Saturday Night Fever, which was made at the same time with the same John Travolta in the lead role. Overall impression: 75%.

Grease 2 is an extremely ordinary affair, matching the level of endless newbie reruns in the morning hours, but Grease is not much better. It’s hard to make two films different when you have a lot of the same cast and crew. I’m not interested in the bouncing Travolta and a weird Newton-John. I'd rather have the stage version with Lucy Lawless that she did in 1997. When it comes to Grease, I only laugh at Lorenzo Lamas. ;)

That 82% is a scary realization for me about how many multinicks my mom has here. A musical hell with implausible characters and a few decent songs after eight beers. Ugh, Travolta still gives me the creeps.

Es sorprendente, vergonzoso, extraño, raro o normal, ¿que uno de los musicales más famosos no figurara en mi lista de películas vistas?! Y probablemente el resultado no me sorprendiera tampoco. Muchas canciones, algunas muy conocidas, la historia cojea un poco, imágenes de la vida de estudiantes sin principio ni fin. Pero cuando te ves con tu Amor (amante de la Pomada) en la cama en un día típicamente de noviembre, la calificación puede subir al menos una estrella más.

I simply love this movie. Even when I saw it for the first time on TV as a school obligation when I was a child, it completely captivated me. I love the songs that are sung here, and the silly story about a love that could never work. It's silly, but it's beautiful, and before I turned thirty, I finally realized how funny it is. This is a movie that I will definitely watch many times in my life.

Un musical lleno de nostalgia por el sueño americano. Ver actores treintañeros en bachillerato resulta bastante extraño... Pero es uno de los musicales más populares aún hoy en día y muchas canciones siguen teniendo importancia cultural y junto con Dirty Dancing (1987) contienen los dúos mas repetidos en programas tipo Bailando con las estrellas u otras competiciones de talento. No es solamente una referecia cultural importante sino una historia simple de entender con un poco de todo. Al final aprendemos, que para ser amados tenemos que fundalmente cambiarnos en cada aspecto de nuestra vida. La transformación de los personajes flojos no es difícil y todos acaban felices
