Paradise Now follows two Palestinian childhood friends who have been recruited for a strike on Tel Aviv and focuses on their last days together. Un thriller sorprendentemente no solo pensativo, sino también tenso, alimentado por giros inesperados y que transmite dinámicamente un tema muy íntimo y sensible. Yo diría que es un tema tan atractivo como el de United 93 de Greengrass simplemente presentando el lado opuesto de la barricada. La película está dominada por las grandes actuaciones de los dos actores principales. Simplemente la mirada de uno de ellos es el arma más poderosa de la película, y no es casualidad que esos ojos sean lo último que veamos en la película. No comentaré sobre las actitudes políticas, ya que están fuera de mi interés, pero las partes que tratan sobre las relaciones entre los personajes (mejor amigo, amada esposa, madre, padre muerto) funcionan perfectamente. Lástima que la lógica a veces da paso al impulso de la historia.. Si no fuera por esos lapsos de lógica, le daría 5*.

Paradise Now is a distinctly political film where artistic form lags behind the social message, i.e., the depiction of the situation in the occupied areas of the West Bank from the perspective of the Palestinian side. I would say that even the audience's evaluation will heavily mirror their political attitudes toward Palestine and Israel. It would be worth comparing the Palestinian problem to the Irish one because Palestinians could have had a disproportionately larger state than the currently occupied territories in the past. By their own stupidity, nationalist radicalism, and systematic failures of their elites, they lost a great deal, which understandably couldn't fit into this film. After several defeats, the Irish chose the path of painful compromise and long-term division of the country so that they could enjoy statehood and independent development. Not long ago, there was a real possibility of the establishment of an independent Palestine, which, although not reaching the territorial extent envisioned by Palestinians and their leaders, would have been a solid foundation for further development. Overall impression: 60%.

Viděno během Challenge Tour 2015: 30 dní se světovou kinematografií. Film číslo 10 - Palestina. Pro diváky, kteří straní Izraeli, bude film možná vyznívat spíše jednostanně. Diváci, kteří fandí Palestině, přimhouří občas oči a budou vesměs spokojeni. Diváci, kteří nestraní nikomu a o mezinárodní politiku se nezajímají, budou spokojeni rovněž, jelikož jde o slušný filmařský počin. Já mám jediný problém a to je ten, že jsem se na ten film díval na pětkrát a to ublíží každému hodnocení. Vždycky jsem si ho zapnul ve fázi velké unavenosti a nedostal jsem se dál než za deset minut. Jsou to ode mě tedy slabší čtyři hvězdičky, ale kdybych se na to podíval v kině na jeden zátah, možná bych šel i výše. Závěrečná scéna je umělecky pojatá nejlépe, jak to šlo.
