Los guerreros del sueño es sin duda una de las mejores pesadillas en Elm Street: respeta las reglas establecidas por la primera película (el guion está coescrito por el creador original Wes Craven y del prometedor Frank Darabont), pero sobre todo trata de ampliarlas con interesantes ideas sobre el funcionamiento del mundo de los sueños. Sin embargo, cada vez que lo veía, no podía evitar la sensación de que este episodio era mucho más una retahíla de asesinatos muy diversos, atracciones oníricas y esas extensas ideas, pero mucho menos una historia de terror consistente y atmosférica en la que temieras por los personajes, o simplemente tuvieras miedo en general. Aun así, es una película increíblemente entretenida con excelentes efectos prácticos y también un poco de la clásica animación stop-motion al estilo de Ray Harryhausen.

Now that was a B movie as it should be. Action, blood, pretty babes (Patricia Arquette hmmm), likable characters, and even the boobs are there. After the awful second one, this is often lined up next to Hellraiser 2 and it serves its purpose – to entertain.

One perverted fun bloody idea alternates another, Freddy is incalculable, the main teen protagonists sympathetic, the special effects sensational, and the viewer isn't bored for even a second. It's less horror and more fantasy, but I remembered most of the scenes from this film well even after some fifteen or more years since the last time I saw it.

Very good episode, great in fact when compared with the awful second one. The story goes back to the first part, the creators did away with the dodgy portrayal of the psychology of the main characters and focused mainly on the dream sequences. And it was worthy, I wouldn’t hesitate to say that in this sense Dream Warriors is at least comparable with the first film. Where it falls short is in terms of atmosphere and fear, which is the main reason I can’t give it a full rating. I also didn’t like much the skeleton at the end, too much fantasy, which is really not my kind of thing. In any case, Freddy and his wisecracks pull it to four stars without a problem.
