Sinopsis(1)

Many refugee stories end in the same place: a safe (if slightly bewildering) new home. And that’s where His House begins, with a Sudanese couple arriving in a quiet English town for their "happily ever after." But as their acclimation process falters, we realize that there's more to blame than cross-cultural misunderstanding. Things begin to go disastrously wrong. “Screaming nightmares” wrong. “Blood magic” wrong. And then, it gets much, much worse. (Sundance Film Festival)

This year’s dark horse turned out even better than I expected, definitely the scariest horror film of the year for me. Netflix is saving this year full steam ahead and I'm really thankful for His House. For the first time in a while, an original film that brings a lot of new and interesting attributes to the genre that I'm really excited about. The film has an intense atmosphere (I was scared during the first 40 minutes), the director literally fires the scares with a machine gun in such short and intense intervals that my heart jumped out of my throat like it hasn't in a long time. His House is very precise in its details, with good performances, Oscar-worthy for its music and cinematography, and to top it off, it has an interesting plot twist that isn't exactly customary in horror films. I liked the whole idea of the refugees not being able to leave the house and that really unpleasant things were happening there. The make-up effects are great, the atmosphere is great as hell, in the cinema this film would probably bring the ceiling down. After watching the film, James Wan had three new grey hairs and one wrinkle on his forehead as the new game changer is on the scene! Story****, Action>No, Humor>No, Violence**, Entertainment*****, Music*****, Visuals****, Atmosphere******, Suspense****. 8.5/10. ()

inglés The combination of refugee themes and horror is an excellent idea, but unfortunately the result is a sometimes impressive, but at the same time too simple, elementary metaphor. It’s a shame. ()

inglés I haven't seen better built and scarier scenes since Hill House. Although it goes off the rails a little in the finale, this original mix of social drama about the adaptation and traumas of two immigrants and classic haunted house horror is a unique example of a film where both genre and art ambitions meet. It works as a metaphor for guilt and alienation, as well as an intense horror, where things are projected from inside the walls of the house. One of the debuts of the year! I see that this is very demanding for the local brownshirt association of film brainwashing – gentlemen, you can still spend your time measuring dog’s bollocks, because you’re better at that. ()

inglés The British movie His House should definitely not be overlooked just because it deals with a subject that some may find a bit too basic. There is a superb portrayal of a personal tragedy and the need to deal with it somehow because otherwise, you could go mad. The movie manages to affect the viewer in a very intense way. ()
